Modern stadiums around the world always feature lightweight, almost floating roof structures. Roofs are often spanned with cables whose support points must contain moment-free bearing supports on both sides.

However, esthetics is only one aspect - the climate protection provided by the roof is much more important. Enormous forces act on the many bearing positions when the roof is opened and closed.
